The Serpent's Egg é o quarto álbum de estúdio da banda Dead Can Dance, lançado em Outubro de 1988. Contém a faixa "The Host of Seraphim", que viria mais tarde a ser usada no filme Baraka, e as faixas "Echolalia" e "Mother Tongue", que o grupo viria a interpretar na cerimónia de abertura dos Jogos Olímpicos de Inverno de 1992, em Albertville, França.

Este álbum foi o último produzido antes do final da relação amorosa entre Gerrard e Perry. Muitas das faixas foram gravadas num apartamento na Ilha de Dogs, em Londres.
